We used mathemaitcal modeling to estimate the amount of trion in our map.
We determined that the map area is about 13% trion. Here's how we used mathematical modeling to get this estimate.
The issue is Trion is a invasive spices of grass that dies faster then normal grass. It is a problem because it is a fire hazard for the sounding area. In the picture, the brown grass is trion.
Our question is what is the percentage of Trion in the map area.
We are assuming all the light brown on the map is Trion.
Math helped us answer what percentage of Trion there was. We got the number by turning the map into a grid and counted the whole squares of Trion and halves
We all estimated the precentage based on a quick look. Our estimates were:
40% C
10% S
25% F
30% M
50 %
68 % D
Three of us estimated using a careful count of wholes and halves. Our estimates were:
15% F
13 % J
9.2 % D
We think it's about 13% trion because it's in the middle of the estimates
There are 184,900 square feet, or 4.25 acers.
13% is 24,037 square feet, or 0.56 acers.
We also estimated the perimeter of the trion. Here's the calculation.

Each square is 10m, so the perimeter is 1060m
